16. Lose Conditions
The conditions below award a Story Point to an opponent rather than ending the game directly. They are collected here because card text and other sections reference them as a group ("the Lose condition"). The operative list is §15 item 4; this section is a cross-reference, not a separate rule.
At the beginning of a player's turn:
- That player controls 5 or more of Contested or Fallen permanents.
- That player does not control a Homeworld.
At any time:
- A player must draw a card and is not able to because they have no cards in their deck.
- A player has 0 Currency in their Treasury (§10.1).
Counting. The Lose condition keys on explicit "Contested" or "Fallen" type-line labels (§18.24). A card in its Prime state, or flipped to a Completed or other non-Contested / non-Fallen face, does not count. Secession defection faces count like any other Fallen face (§18.39, §21.3).
Surface Locations destroyed by the over-Capacity check in §10.6 go directly to the Depleted Pile without flipping, and therefore never count toward this condition.
